Project Overview
Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement
The City of Blackwell, OK. required upgrades to the existing Wastewater treatment Plant. UCI was contracted to provide general contracting services to construct a new Aero-Mod treatment facility that would increase peak flow capacity to 3mgd.
The Blackwell WWTP presented several challenges consisting of maintaining treatment operations, dewatering the basin, re-routing the water line to facilitate nearby buildings, and managing roads that facilitated both plant and construction access. A new concrete basin was constructed to house the Aero-Mod equipment operation, along with a lab building which houses the electrical control room, press room, blower and compressor. Also constructed was an exterior UV Disinfection area with cover and access. A major pump around was required at the end to facilitate start-up of the new plant. Over 5500 cy of concrete & 5200’ of pipe were installed with the new construction.
